In Sanskrit, Giloy is known as Amrita', which literally translates to ‘the root of immortality', because of its abundant medicinal properties. It is described as one of the Medhya Rasayanas (mental rejuvenation) in the Charak Samhita. The Rasayana property bestows longevity, enhances memory, boosts immunity, increases the body resistance against infections and improves general health. It also has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, anti-arthritic, anti-allergic, anti-diabetic and wound healing properties.
