By month 5, the foetus starts growing at a faster rate and bigger changes start taking place. Your belly starts growing at this point and you’ll get that beautiful pregnancy glow!
The baby triples in weight from the 4th to the 5th month, from 3 to 9 ounces. The flesh and blood of the foetus develop further, and it wakes up from its sub-conscious existence and gains mann (mind) making it more active. The baby begins to hear, so this is when the parents can start talking to it!
- While the foetus grows, the mother tends to lose weight during this month; it is important to increase the intake of fats like full-fat milk, bananas, etc.
- Take ghee in a glass of warm milk twice a day.
- The recommended vegetables are the same as the ones for the 4th month – leafy greens and fresh fruits.
Small Lifestyle Changes
Because of your growing belly, you should avoid lying on your back as this reduces blood flow to the uterus. Instead, sleep on your side for better digestion and full blood flow to the foetus.
